Joinery (n):  a part of woodworking that involves joining together pieces of wood, to produce more complex items. Some wood joints employ fasteners, bindings, or adhesives, while others use only wood elements. The characteristics of wooden joints - strength, flexibility, toughness, appearance, etc. - derive from the properties of the joining materials and from how they are used in the joints. Therefore, different joinery techniques are used to meet differing requirements. Seamless joinery is one of the hallmarks of a true craftsman.

Joiners were once referred to as the highest level of professional carpenters.  A joiner is a type of carpenter that cuts and fits joints in wood without the use of nails, screws, or other metal fasteners.

Peterson’s maternal grandfather was a blacksmith, furniture and cabinet maker, Ébéniste, and joiner.  His love and passion for building heirlooms and masterpieces from his walnut groves in Iowa helped to nurture his grandchildren’s love for wood. Justin has been following this passion since he was first introduced to the woodshop at the age of six.
